Invitation | Mint & Lilies

Good day, m’dears 🙂

In the midst of designing wedding stationery for my previous BTBs as well as painting commissioned framed art for some of you darlings out there, I have my own share of wedding preparation too.

I’ve got my reasons not to blog about it during the process. However, now that I am married to my best friend, alhamdulillah, I shall consider working backwards and write about it. We’ll leave that for another day, insyAllah.

Well okay, except for the part where I painted tiger lilies for our invites. 🙂

In all honesty, I was that boring BTB who wanted nothing more than whites and greys. LOL. Added mint and blood orange later because I felt that 1) they go well with my favourite colour combination, and 2) together, they are less common.

This isn’t my usual style of painting, but I’ve seen it somewhere before and I told myself I had to give it a try. And of all the times to try it, it had to be the flowers for my invites. Hahahah, talk about living (BTB) life dangerously. 😛

I spent a few nights painting these. I remember making the final strokes past 1 in the morning. I didn’t like what I saw once I was done. Instead of throwing them away, I convinced myself to sleep it off and look at them again with eyes wide awake first thing in the morning after coffee.

And boy was I glad I didn’t tear them apart and dump them in the bin. I scanned them in and got some digital work done before submitting them to my printers.

And here’s the final piece! The map and legend are my favourite. What do you think?

On the day we started distributing the cards, I was a nervous wreck. It is the same feeling that I get whenever I email first design drafts to my BTBs.. Just that this time it was a hundred times worse. Hahahah. 😛 So happy to know that both mothers approve of it. The husband couldn’t stop forwarding positive feedback from his side as well. Alhamdulillah. :’D :’D :’D

Till next time!

Love,
